Photographers are categorized by the style in which they shoot. As an artist, I tend to shy away from strict definitions. I work under the dictum: don’t plan, interrupt, or impede on the events unfolding — just let them transpire. This organic approach to my work births unplanned and unexpected moment to moment photography.
It is from these unexpected and unarranged images, I am able to create art with light by way of composite portraiture. Through this medium, I am able to create a final image that juxtaposes objects or living things in unlikely (or impossible) combinations. Sometimes, the scene depicted is plausible but would be too difficult to capture in a candid moment. Other times, I blend several still shots to make a stunning but technically impossible photo. This photographic sorcery blends Toni the author, and Toni the photographer — allowing me to create photographic art that tells a story.
I spend most of my time in New Orleans, and recently opened Toni McGee Causey Studio located in the French Quarter. My studio largely features French Quarter locations I captured that are well-known and deeply loved by locals and tourists alike. In addition, I can also be booked directly.
